After spending some time discussing which metals are attracted by magnets (not copper).  We put our ideas to the test only to find the seemingly “copper” pennies were attracted to our magnets.  A Google search later revealed that the Canadian Mint stopped using copper as the primary ingredient in pennies in 1997!
